Benefits of IPL

What are the benefits of IPL

The reason that everyone is turning to IPL for hair removal is that it is the nearest you can get to permanent hair removal. It is also generally pain free. Just think of electrolysis or waxing, the pain of either of these can persuade many people never to try hair removal techniques again and they return to previous products such as hair removal creams or shaving, both of which only last a week or so at best and constantly need repeating.  It isn’t just the pain, but the irritation and blistering that can often occur with more traditional forms of hair removal.

IPL offers permanent hair removal and your comfort at the same time, building your confidence to keep repeating the process to get the optimum result. It also cools your skin while you having the treatment, thus preventing any skin irritations and helping to keep your skin soft and moisturised.

The wands that are used by IPL machines can cover quite a large area of skin quickly because of the way of light pulses work so it a very quick process, generally a pair of legs can be treated in less than one hour with no after treatment soreness or irritation making it a perfect process for clients to utilise in their lunch breaks.

Unlike waxing, you don’t have to grow your hairs before IPL hair removal treatment, in fact you can shave up to one hour before starting IPL treatment so you don’t have to spend all day before your treatment with hairy legs!

On a more serious note, if the hair is in a more embarrassing place such as on the face, it allows you to continue with your old treatment right up to having IPL so you don’t have to feel embarrassed.  The convenience of IPL cannot be beaten. There is very limited preparation before treatment so little time is wasted before treatment starts.

The pain experienced during treatment is minimal with descriptions such as a mild pulling or feeling a very gentle “snapping” sensation are the norm, a million miles away from the torture of leg, underarm and in particular bikini waxing.

Anyone can have IPL hair removal – the only groups that are advised not to use it are pregnant women and diabetics, at least without consultation from their GP first, just to make sure. Skin colour does not make a difference or age.  It can be used on any part of the body quite safely.

It is recommended that a course of six treatments are undertaken to provide maximum hair removal –  in most cases up to 95% hair removal can be obtained if multiple treatments are undertaken, none of this hair will grow back.  No other treatment on the market offers results these good. The reason six treatments are required is that hair grows in cycles – there are three cycles in total – Catagen, Telogen and Anagen, each cycle causes different hair growth speed so treatment should take place over all three cycles. Doing this will guarantee maximum hair removal.
